Here's What I've Been Working on Today...

Yep, when I'm not working on my W.I.P., I'm probably at the movies. This week I was covering the superhero beat. Anyone excited to see The Dark Knight Rises?

Just in case you're curious, here's my .02. Hope you have a great weekend, and in the meantime, anyone got any writing questions for me to tackle next week?

Ciao, Christa

  1. I've toyed with true idea of taking the setting/characters from the game CLUE and writing a story with them, but I know that would be dealing with copyrighted content that's a problem. How would you go about dealing with that? I think it'd be an interesting idea. Any alternative ideas that could work?

  2. That'd be interesting! I don't know all the ins and outs, Ashley but i think you have to find ways to take "make it your own". Like if you follow a similar plot you need your own characters. Or if you use similar characters you need a new plot. It can't be 100%

Can you take on aspect like a mystery & mix it with something else & have vaguely similar characters?
    You know what I mean?
There was a post on Seekerville one time about an author who takes pieces from known stories. I don't remember where it is though. She writes historicals and tool from Seven brides for seven brothers.

Maybe one of te scribble chicks can guide you better!

    1. Oh, I would definitely make it my own. I just love the characters and the setting. You could do anything with the plot. It wouldn't have to be a _________ did it in the _________ with the _________ kind of ending. I'd want to focus more on the characters' personal lives. I mean, I guess I could come up with a similar idea, but I don't think it'd be as good as using the real thing. It'd have a more effective ending if the readers were expecting one thing and something atypical happened.
