Elements

I hope everyone had a good Valentine's Day!

I'm in my element - currently sitting at Barnes & Noble, with a cranberry orange scone, a skinny white chocolate mocha, and a list of things to write including my workshop for an uncoming conference I'm teaching on the 25th, a Forum article for the newspaper and editing the sample chapters on my new proposal.

Ahhhh. :)

What's your element? Where are you the most inspired to write and create? I wonder if B&N helps me so much because I can't get here all the time, at most once or twice a week. And that's stretching it. There's just something about the mochas and the reassuring sound of coffee grinders behind me and the occasional heartfelt convos around me...plus the smell of BOOKS!

Where do you do most of your writing and where do you WISH you could do most of your writing? (because they are probably not the same place!!)

PS - Speaking of convos...I'm trying really, really hard not to listen to the convo of the two men across the room. Because it's starting to freak me out. Yikes.

  1. Betsy, I'm in my element when it's quiet in my room. I don't like distractions when I'm blogging. A cup of mocha isn't considered a distraction, though. In fact, I welcome it =)

  2. You're right about where you like to write versus where you actually get to write being two different places. I write more at school than anywhere else, but I'm in my element when I'm out on a football field -especially when the sun starts to go down and things start cooling off. (Most of my stories come from my experience as a trainer with my high school's football team, so it makes sense.) I only wish it smelled more like coffee, scones, an books, out there... :)

  3. I don't know I've found my element yet. If I had to guess- it's someplace alone with good music playing.
An ideally with an idea just flowing because man have I been getting stuck lately!

  4. My element is the corner nook in the back of my house... but it has to be at night. Something about the night hours...
