It is a well-known fact by about three million people that I am a chronic insomniac. The reason so many people know this is because I never stop whining about it. But the day has come; I have found the magic cure.
Pregnancy.
I realize I am only in my second trimester, but I have suddenly developed the ability to sleep anywhere at any time. The girl who used to consider three hours of rest a good night's sleep now finds herself asking... can I make it an hour without a nap?
The pendulum has swung the other way. What I used to have 21 hours in a day to accomplish I now have about eight. With a few naps in-between. Which leads me to ask my dear readers... what's the cure for chronic sleep?
And don't you dare say a new-born.

Oh dear, speaking not as a published writer like yourselves but as a mom :), you're in a special time in your life, so I think you should give yourself a break. Building your family is more important than building a career, right? And you're finishing up building a person now :), and that's a LOT of work!! So the tiredness (paired with sleeplessness) is totally part of the package. I think it's God's way of making sure you'll stop everything and just think about your baby!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Anne! And it gets better. Pregnacy is exhausting, literally, and sleep now because after the baby is here, you probably won't sleep all night long, straight through, for a good couple of months. Just how it goes! So enjoy it, soak it up, and then when the baby gets here, try to be happy you're awake at 2 a.m. ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm with Anne and Betsy - soak up the sleep!! :) I always tried to tell myself that only getting 3 hours of work in a day was better than writing with a foggy brain. You're working extra hard right now growing that little bean! I think God knew what He was doing by making pregnancy suck the energy out of you - makes you sit down and rest!
ReplyDeletePraying for you and the Little One! :)
Thank you Anne, Betsy, and Erynn! You ladies rock!
